Brighton’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Newcastle United last Saturday has propelled them to fifth place in the Premier League ahead of their upcoming fixture against Wolves at the Amex Stadium.
Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton have had a solid start to the season, while Gary O’Neil’s Wolves have struggled, sitting at the bottom of the table with just one point from eight matches. Despite their position, Wolves will be looking to secure their first win of the season, having narrowly lost to Newcastle, Liverpool, and Manchester City by just one goal.
Both Hürzeler and O’Neil are dealing with injury concerns ahead of the Saturday, 3 p.m. kick-off. Here’s an early look at the injury updates, with nine players out and three doubtful:
- Joao Pedro (Brighton) – Out: The Brazilian forward remains sidelined with an ankle injury sustained against Nottingham Forest. Although he’s making progress, he’s unlikely to feature against Wolves.
- James Milner (Brighton) – Out: The veteran midfielder has had a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury and is expected to miss the Wolves game.
- Matt O’Riley (Brighton) – Out: The former Celtic midfielder continues his recovery from ankle surgery and is targeting a return in December.
- Adam Webster (Brighton) – Out: The defender picked up a hamstring injury against Tottenham and will miss Saturday’s match. No return date has been set.
- Danny Welbeck (Brighton) – Out: Welbeck, who’s been in fine form, injured his back in the second half against Newcastle and will be a notable absence.
- Solly March (Brighton) – Out: March is nearing a return after a 12-month absence with a knee injury, but won’t be ready for Wolves.
- Yankuba Minteh (Brighton) – Doubtful: The winger missed the Newcastle game with a minor issue but hopes to be fit to face Wolves.
- Hee Chan Hwang (Wolves) – Doubtful: The striker is recovering from an ankle ligament injury. O’Neil indicated it could take a couple of weeks for his return.
- Yerson Mosquera (Wolves) – Out: The defender is recovering from knee surgery and is on track with his rehabilitation, but remains sidelined.
- Enso Gonzalez Medina (Wolves) – Out: The Paraguayan is in the strength phase of his knee injury recovery, progressing well after surgery.
- Sasa Kalajdzic (Wolves) – Out: The Austrian forward is recovering from a knee issue but has begun training on the grass and could return soon.
- Boubacar Traore (Wolves) – Out: The Malian midfielder is expected to be out until Christmas due to a knee injury.
- Sam Johnstone (Wolves) – Doubtful: The goalkeeper is dealing with an adductor strain but is hoping to be fit in time for the Brighton game.
Brighton will be hoping to capitalize on Wolves’ struggles, while O’Neil’s side will be looking to turn their fortunes around at the Amex.
